Dredging Projects

Palma Sola/San Remo/Snead Island – Authorized dredge footprint complete, with minor adjustments planned at San Remo and Snead Island.

Cortez – Channel dredging project substantially complete.

Warner’s Bayou – Contractor chosen to start the project mid-late March, 2007.

Turtle Beach – Contractor chosen to start dredging mid-late March, 2007.  DMMA construction is complete.

 Survey Underway

Hatchett Creek – Survey complete.  R.A.I. submittal is near completion.  District is supplying permit assistance to the City of Venice.

Lower Tampa Bay – Constriction of the ICW channel in Pinellas County, near the Manatee County Line.  Permit application submittal imminent.

Longboat Pass/ICW Construction – Staff has submitted documentation for “fast track” permit.

 Grants

CBSM Project for PFD Use – FBIP $50K to WCIND for this Boater Education Program.

 Regional Socioeconomic Value Report – FDEP $100K for Artificial Reef Project, with 6 county participants cost share to WCIND for management of project.

 Permits

East/West Spring Lake – Permits have been received and Charlotte County has been notified.       District staff awaiting direction for next action from Charlotte County.

Lee NGP/Ecosystem Management Plan –  Staff is in discussion with DEP, re:  ecosystem management, and language revisions.

 Plans

Venice IMP Model – The draft ADCIRC model has been completed by Dr. Mohamed Dabees and the companion Reservoir model will soon be integrated into the product.

Longboat IMP Model – Dr. Dabees will report to the WCIND Board on 2-23-07.

Charlotte County RWMS – Recent action by the Charlotte County BCC.

 New Projects

Bowles Creek Dredging – Manatee County.

Bryn Mawr Canal Dredging – Manatee County.
